JERILDERIECurrent Affiliation: Picola and District Football League (PDFL) since 2008 Colours: Green and purple Emblem: Demons Senior Grade Premierships: Coreen District Football League (CDFL) - 1963, 1999-2000, 2003 (4 total); Murray Football League (MFL) - 1983, 1987, 1989 (3 total); PDFL North East Division - 2009 (1 total) Jerilderie alternated between the Coreen District Football League and Murray Football League, gaining four premierships from ten grand finals in the former, and three flags in the latter. When the Coreen District Football League disbanded at the end of the 2007 season the Demons transferred to the Picola and District Football League and, after enjoying moderate success in their debut season, became a founder member of the league's newly formed North East Division in 2009. They produced some excellent performances during the home and away season, winning 13 out of 16 matches to qualify for the finals in second position. Victories over Berrigan in the qualifying final and Deniliquin Rovers in the second semi final followed, earning Jerilderie a grand final berth. Standing between the Demons and a flag was a Berrigan combination that had succumbed quite meekly in the qualifying final, going down by almost 15 goals. The grand final re-match was a completely different affair, with scores at a premium, and little between the sides all day. In the end, Jerilderie proved just that little bit steadier when it mattered, and emerged victorious by 3 points, 9.14 (68) to 8.17 (65). Where now? or |
